The first Hungarian University to offer International Degree Programs in English

Founded in 1367, the University of Pécs is not only one of Central Europe’s oldest universities; in 1984, the University of Pécs Medical School was also the first to offer degree programs to foreign students in English language. Due to the many benefits the University offers, the International Programs have enjoyed constant growth ever since.

The University of Pécs enrols 100 students each year in its English language General Medicine Program, and 20 students in its English language Dentistry Program.

Unique Benefits
The Medical and Dental Faculty’s relatively small size, in combination with the caring nature of the faculty and staff, have fostered the development of a comfortable learning environment without compromising the high quality of the academic program.

The Medical School’s various buildings are located within short walking distance of one another, minimising the necessary commute between classes.

If requested, the University of Pécs Medical School can refer students to a reliable outside organisation for assistance with finding appropriate housing.

Exemption from Taking the Entrance Examination and Transfer Credits
Candidates with a B.A. or B.Sc. degree, or those currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in a health-related field may qualify for exemption from taking the entrance examination and may receive credit at the University of Pécs Medical School for some first year courses. Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, and are pendant on the student providing official transcripts and course descriptions equivalent to the requirements of the University of Pécs Medical School.

If Gross Anatomy and/or Histology and Embryology are the only courses missing from your first year curriculum, you may consider taking the University of Pécs Medical School’s intensive 2-week summer course and exams in these two subjects, and start your studies in the second year. The University will only offer the intensive course if there is a sufficient number of students registered for the program.
