Semmelweis University’s
Medical School, Faculty of Dentistry, and Faculty of Phramacy are located
in Budapest, Hungary’s capital, a lively metropolis in the middle
of Europe. In 1983, Semmelweis University was the first institution
of higher education in Hungary to offer an international degree program
to foreign students. Due to its academic excellence and unique location,
admission has been very competitive for all programs that Semmelweis
University offers.

Semmelweis University Medical School enrols 170 students
each year in its English language General Medicine Program, 40 students
in the English language Dentistry Program, and 20 students in the English
language Pharmacy Program.

Exemption from
Taking the Entrance Examination and Transfer Credits
Candidates with a B.A. or B.Sc. degree, or those currently enrolled in
an undergraduate program in a health-related field may qualify for exemption
from taking the entrance examination and may receive credit at Semmelweis
University’s Medical School, Faculty of Dentistry, or Faculty of
Pharmacy for some of their courses. Decisions are made on a case-by-case
basis, and are pendant on the student providing official transcripts and
course descriptions equivalent to the requirements of Semmelweis University.
Students may also be required to pass an exam in each course to assess
their subject matter knowledge. These exams are administered by the appropriate
faculty members at Semmelweis University.

Living in Budapest
Students can expect to spend anywhere from US$ 8,000 to 15,000 per year
on their living expenses, depending on their living standards. Additional
costs include textbooks (US$ 500-1000 per year) and insurance (US$ 280
per year).
